Fashion has excited men and women for many centuries and decades later, nothing has changed. Each season, so many elements come together to determine fashion trends: the cuts, the details, the fabrics, and of course, the colors. The trends for Fall/Winter 2010 are not restrictive at all. They are giving us plenty of creative opportunities that we can play with to assemble stylish outfits. Stylish, by definition, means ‘conforming to the current fashion’. While there is truth to that, it also means personalizing your look and making it your own. Marc Jacobs once said...”Getting dressed should be an emotional thing”. In other words, ‘dress to feel good’, and the multitude of this season’s trends should enable you to do just that.
Colors
With so many sources of inspiration, it's not surprising that the color palette this season is very diverse. Ranging from light neural shades to classic dark shades, even in the multitude of this season’s choices, a few colors tend to stand out:
Red
Rich, deep red tones are some of the hottest hues in fashion trend for the season
Camel tones
It's no surprise that various shades of this classic are coming back in full force
Deep purple tones
Considered a royal color, purple tones add a magnificent infusion of energy
Khaki shades
Still strong, the military style places khaki and olive tones in the spotlight once again
Fabrics
Real Fur
Faux Fur
Leopard Print

Styles
50’s Fashion
A mixture of sexuality and femininity, this trend encompasses everything from delicate laces to bustiers. Try mixing one of these under a cardigan or jacket and pair it with tailored pants or even jeans. http://www.fashionising.com/trends/b--Lingerie-as-Outerwear-Womens-Fashion-Trend-968.html
'60’s Ladylike
Get the season's mod mini shifts and wide legs in a brocade and look for shapes that accentuate curves and encourage femininity.
Sophisticated '70s
This look is about balancing softness with boldness. By day it's all about high waists, luxe wide legs and soft buttery silk blouses. Flowing or draping dresses in high-shine or metallic hues are perfect for evening. http://www.fashionising.com/trends/b--Sophisticated-70s-womens-trend-4506.html
Military Fashion
Military, again? Yes, military remains a trend for the Fall, but not as you've previously known it. Instead of the military jacket, go for the core color of the trend: olive green. Use this deep hue as a neutral this season and mix it with oranges, browns, purples and camel tones for an updated military style.
Color Blocking
This is a strong pattern for fall. It fits in so well with urban styles and can be bright and bold or more neutral, for a quiet sophistication. http://fashion.about.com/od/latesttrends/ig/Colorblocking/
Velvet Vixen
The velvet neo double breast jacket takes simplicity to a new level. Often just with two-buttons and cut to be striking, this jacket is perfect for creating a simple, yet sophisticated, impact. http://www.fashionising.com/trends/b--Cutaway-clothes-womens-SS-2009-trend-1454.html
Sheer Clothing
Yes, I agree that it sounds a little strange, but it’s anything but. Paired with luxe fabrics, the sheer trend mixes elegance with a little sex appeal. Cut out pieces work well directly on top of skin or 'filled in' with sheer fabrics and work great under that boring business suit.
Menswear
Menswear looks great on women as long as you choose flattering, fitted jackets and slim-cut pants. Be sure to add something soft and sexy (a satin shirt and jewelry helps) to give it a feminine vibe.
Cover Ups
Capable of being mixed and styled in a plethora of ways, this is a style that will suit both high fashion and those days when you just want to throw something on. Accessorize it well to avoid looking frumpy.
Accessories
Accessories have a leading role when it comes to personalizing an outfit and are my personal favorite topic. Whether you’re going for complexity, elegance, originality or style, each year accessories trends offer us the opportunity to renew our wardrobe. The fashion accessories of this season are no different, and are quite contrasting. Being made to suit a variety of personalities, the influences are both classical and futuristic, and feminine and daring, enabling each woman to embrace the style that most suits her.
White Tights - Forget traditional dark-colored hosiery and step-out in style in white for a fresh, bright change? Whether you wear them vintage-style with a mini dress and bold colors, or all light hues, there are various looks you can create.
Skinny Belts - Thin is in. Use a skinny belt to cinch-in a chunky cable knit sweater or a classic camel coat for a stylish updated look.
Shoulder bag - A classic and practical alternative to the modern and heavily accessorized handbag, the shoulder bag will be one of the stars of this season. The chic, stylish impression is suitable for upgrading a casual look as well as for completing a more conventional outfit.
Leopard printed accessories - Animal prints are coming back in full force in a variety of ways and is one of the simplest ways to spice up your wardrobe.
Fun Headwear - Look fabulous in a structured wide-brimmed wool hat or men’s-style fedora, or even try on a feather headband for a more whimsical look
Vests - Menswear, velvet, sweater or fur: the choice is yours, and they're all good. This trend is great because it’s easily adapted to different lifestyles: the same fur vest can work with dressy pants for the office or jeans for the weekend. With a vest, you can really make a look your own. http://fashion.about.com/od/latesttrends/ig/Vests.-Za0/
Gloves - Gloves are an inexpensive way to freshen up your wardrobe. Everything from bright color to fingerless gloves will look modern, and this season you’ll find them in everything from lace to leather to faux fur. So have fun!
Shoes
Chunky heels - Although stilettos look glamorous chunky heels are much more comfortable.
Thigh high boots - Over-the-knee boots are the must-have footwear for Autumn / Fall 2010 and the options are many and various. Thigh-high boots were a huge footwear trend last season and luckily these boots are going to be still hot this season, too. http://www.fashionising.com/trends/b--Thigh-high-boots-over-the-knee-boots-trend-2010-1603.html
Clogs - It doesn't sound like the most glamorous or practical of footwear trends, and yet the clog has reached new heights in 2010. Pair them with some colorful socks to add interest to your outfit. http://www.fashionising.com/trends/b--clogs-4532.html
Kitten heels - Making a somewhat controversial return, kitten heels can work particularly well when dainty, pointed, and either retro-inspired or minimalist. http://www.fashionising.com/shoes/b--kitten-heels-4384.html
