With cooler temperatures comes excitement. And that excitement is fueled by the curiosity of what winter fashion trends we’ll be seeing and what clothes Ione might get to add to their wardrobe. This year is no exception and here are some of the season’s top picks:
W is for wedge heels.
This season's hottest shoe style gives a very up-to-the-minute look to any outfit. Look for some fun leopard print or suede wedges to jazz up a boring outfit. Did I mention how comfortable these are???
I is for intarsia knits.
From ski-bunny jumpers to the traditional cable knit sweater, this style is huge for the winter. While being super cozy, it can also tend to be a bit bulky looking, so play around with a belt to tailor the look a bit.
N is for nostalgia.
This season’s fashions are drawing inspirations anywhere from the ‘50s and ‘60s, to the‘70s glamour. You’ll see anything from fluid tailored trousers, cable-knit sweaters, and ponchos and capes on the shelves this season. Team them up with a fun leopard print to add a new twist.
Tis for trousers.
Pants make a comeback in feminine cuts and fluid evening trousers that are giving the traditional party skirts and dresses a little competition this season. Velvet trousers paired with a delicate blouse and a snazzy little kitten heel are a great Christmas party alternative for those colder climates.
Eis for equestrian.
From jackets to boots embellished with studs, tassels and blinged-out buckles, this style isn’t just for riding anymore.
R is for red.
The color of seduction and a symbolic color of Christmas, red is represented in everything from head-to-toe this season, and it is a great way to instantly liven up an outfit.
F is for fur.
Authentic, faux, fuzzy, shaggy, and everything in-between – you’ll see this one in anything from clothing to accessories to shoes. It’s very important when wearing fur to choose one item. Otherwise you might get mistaken for the Abominal Snowman.
Ais for aviator-inspired jackets.
Fashion is having a flashback with 1950’s-style flying jackets. Made from buttery soft leather and shearling, this season’s oversized collars bring the aviator jacket up- to-date.
S is for suede / sheepskin.
Found in this season’s coats, capes, boots and bags, suede and sheepskin give an old look a new flair.
H is for hats.
Definitely one of my favorite trends! Not only are they great for bad hair days, you can actually look stylish too, and there are many styles to choose from. So whatever your style preference, add a hat to your outfit this season.
I is for interesting.
Have fun with your outfit. Bright colors are a fresh surprise in fashion this season. Pair up some fun tights or gloves with that ordinary sweater dress or throw on an aviator jacket with a very feminine dress for a chic look. Remember that less is more. Pick one item to be the interesting piece (leopard hair belt or handbag) and show that off by pairing it with more understated pieces. You don’t ever want your outfit to compete with itself. “People of Wal-Mart” website...need I say more?
Ois for over-the-knee.
Whether it’s boots or socks, over the knee styles are very in this season and are a simple way to transform an outfit. Get more for your money - look for “convertible boots” that can be folded up to create the over-the-knee look or folded down to be regular knee boots.
N is for new year.
Wishing everyone a wonderful new year of health and happiness!
M is for military.
This is still a strong trend to love and it is everywhere. Showing up in some of the season’s signature colors, military isn’t just green and khaki anymore
Uis for underwear as outerwear.
Stockings and tights become a statement piece rather than just an accessory. Patterned hosiery provides a fashion feature all its own
S is for suede.
Suede can be found as an option in shoes, bags, belts, hats, jackets, you name it. The designers are having a little more fun with it this year too by offering it in a lot of different color options..
Tis for taupe (camel).
Camel in all its shades starting from cream to cappuccino is one of the key elements for the winter. Mix camel with denim or other shades, like copper, golden brown, red-brown or mahogany.
H is for hair.
Calf hair is a huge trend in accessories this season. It can be found in numerous animal prints, so consider adding a belt or a pair of calf hair pumps to that office outfit .
A is for animal prints.
Leopard print is huge again this season, but don’t be afraid to select other prints. These prints can be overdone easily, so you might want to skip over that zebra jogging suit and opt for a scarf.
V is for velvet.
Seen in everything from pants to dresses, velvet is the perfect winter fabric to awaken all of you fashionistas.
E is for endive.
This yellow greenish color is another hot color this season. Grab this color in a handbag or a jacket to add a splash of color to your wardrobe.
S is for skirts.
With a longer maxi hem-line, skirts are in for the winter. Choose from calf-length to floor sweeping dresses and skirts in tweed, jersey and silk. Keep in mind that with a fuller skirt, you
will want to opt for a more fitted top to balance out the outfit.
The Christmas season is my absolute favorite time of the year for several reasons. Most importantly, not only do I get to reflect on what an amazing group of people I have in my life, but it allows me to remind my kids the real meaning of Christmas and hope that they pass their knowledge and compassion on to their children some day. Wishing you and your loved ones the happiest holiday season and a fabulous new year ahead!
